Dear Bennett Community,

What better way to start an early Thanksgiving morning than to reflect on my blessings of you and the past fifteen years.  Many people get up, go to work, and go home thankful to have that part of the day over with.   I have been so blessed over the years to laugh with you, hurt with you, worry with you and be proud with you as I watched your children grow and learn.

The generous outpouring of love and support was overwhelming to me.  The many, many flowers, gifts, cards, phone calls and personal expressions of support are so appreciated and words can't really do justice to my feelings.  I took the flowers to a nursing home to brighten their lives for a few days, but I'll never part with a single memory of my time with you.

Thank you for all you've been to me.

Love,

Becky Richards

Help for the Holidays

We have five Bennett families that can use help.  One family is in need of winter clothing for three children.  Two girls, sizes 2T and 7.  One boy size 4T.  Gift cards for groceries (any store) would be greatly appreciated.  Please bring to the office.

Thank you!

Mark Your Calendar!

On Tuesday, February 7, 2006, Bellevue School District residents will vote on two school levies. These are not new taxes.  They are renewals of expiring levies approved by voters in 2002.  State law requires the school district to ask voters to re-approve these levies every two, three, or four years.

Issue #1: General Fund Levy for ongoing school operations

Renews a levy that expires in 2006 and represents 21% of the operating budget.

Helps fill in the gaps between school needs and state funding by providing more teachers for smaller classes, textbooks and curriculum materials, teacher training, gifted and special education programs, the seven period day in middle and high school, and student transportation. #1 TOTAL AMOUNT: averages $34.0 million a year for a total of $136.0 million

Issue #2: Capital Projects Levy

Renews a levy approved in 2002, and focuses on technology for teaching and learning, including improved communication & collaboration among teachers, students & parents and data analysis tools for teachers & principals to adjust classroom instruction.  Pays for other equipment purchases and small facilities projects. #2 TOTAL AMOUNT: $51 million over five years

Ballot and Voting Information: For more information about registration, including absentee ballot requests, please view http://www.metrokc.gov/elections or contact King County Voter Registration at (206) 296-VOTE.
