Bellevue Schools Foundation

Senior English Course, Grade 12

Implemented in Fall 2005, Senior English is a rigorous literature-based course designed to prepare all Bellevue students for college-level writing and research tasks.

This year, approximately 900 12th grade students will read, analyze and synthesize complex literary works and non-fiction prose. Using standard written English, students write for discovery, summarizing information, taking notes, analyzing and presenting original analysis and ideas. In addition, the students will also revise their writing for different audiences and purposes.

The Bellevue Schools Foundation is raising $150,000 to fund Middle and High School Language Arts initiatives. Bank of America has contributed $10,000 toward the Senior English Course.

The 2006 Auction Committee

requests the pleasure of your company

on an ocean voyage aboard the S.S. Bennett,

departing March 18, 1906.

Mark your calendars, start packing and make ready for a First Class party!

Seriously, if you have not yet cleared this evening on your calendar, please do so now! This night is for a great cause: our kids’ education. Many of the school experiences we took for granted as children are paid for by school PTAs. Bennett’s annual auction helps pay for field trips, guest authors, classroom assistants and more.

There is some work to be done before we enjoy the party. And the auction committee is asking for your help. We are working with business to procure items for auction. But the most valuable and fun stuff always comes from the Bennett families and staff.  Please donate or procure an item for this year’s auction!

How? Look for ideas and detailed information about soliciting and making donations in your child’s back-pack coming home on Friday 1/13. Start now; procurement forms are due at the end of February, but the sooner the better.

Want to help make this year’s auction a success? We love volunteers, especially with procurement.

For questions, information or to volunteer please contact either Liz or Laura.

See you at the Auction!

Thanks to a grant from the PTSA, two digital cameras were bought for the school. One will be dedicated to teacher use and the second will be available to fourth and fifth graders who attend three meetings on photography.  A notice will go out to the fourth and fifth graders separately.
