Text Box: We hope you were able to attend the first PTSA meeting on September 12th. We were excited to welcome Eric McDowell from the Bellevue School District Math Curriculum Department. Chris Thomas and Eric McDowell gave a short presentation about the improvements in the math curriculum both with BSD and Bennett Elementary. You can find more detail on the information presented in the kiosk located outside of the office.

The Bennett Curriculum night was Tuesday, September 19th. This was a very informative evening put on by Bennett teachers and staff and we hope you were able to attend. The room parents will be collecting a small donation for a classroom party fund. Please donate if you can. They will also be asking for parents to sign up for any parties and classroom activities that are still open. Thank you to everyone who is able to support the classroom by volunteering your time or resources. Please remember that you must attend one of the training classes to volunteer in the classroom. Training is scheduled at September 29th, 4:30 – 5:30 and again on October 25th.
Our first all-school event is the annual Walk-a-thon on September 29th! Besides being a fun-filled family event, the Walk-a-thon is also one of our two major fundraisers of the year. This year's theme is "Walk the Plank!” Your children should have received their packets and should be busy gathering donations from family and friends. We encourage you to support your children in this event with their pledges and also Text Box: we invite you to come to the Walk-a-thon. You will be amazed about the amount of fun and excitement the event creates. We will be serving dinner so you can make a family dinner out of it.

Our first Skate King date is set for Wednesday, October 4th from 6:30-8:30 in the evening. Students are required to have permission slips to attend and will need to have a 'responsible adult' on the premises in order to attend. The Skate King events are so much fun and we need to make sure every student is safe and accounted for!

Picture Day is scheduled for October 6th. Volunteers are still needed to help out, please contact Kris Kennedy (Kristine.kennedy@comcast.net) if you’re interested. If you are able to volunteer, your child will receive free student photos!
The PTSA has an announcement board located across from the office. Please take a minute to glance at the notices if you happen to be in the building. We encourage all Bennett families to attend the PTSA General Meetings and we welcome your suggestions and ideas! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the PTSA Executive Committee by phone or email. You will also find our website interesting for additional information at www.bennettelementary.org. Our Friday Flyer newsletter comes out every other Friday. If you would like to submit columns, please email thefridayflyer@yahoo.com.
